Advanced Turkish

Dr. Gökçe Karaoğlu

In this course, designed for students with intermediate Turkish proficiency, almost all lessons will be conducted in Turkish. English may be utilized in exceptional cases. The goal of the course is to elevate the students’ vocabulary and grammatical knowledge to a level where they can fully comprehend texts written in the Turkish language. Upon request, advanced courses focusing on the use of Turkish in specific fields such as literature, theology, history, etc., can be opened for students who complete this level. Following the curriculum of the Istanbul coursebook series, grammar topics will be taught through reading passages.

About the instructor 

Gökçe Karaoğlu holds a PhD in media and communications and an MA in management and economics from the University of Zurich (UZH), Switzerland, as well as a double major in business administration and media and visual arts from Koç University, Istanbul. Having taught communication courses at the university level, she incorporates an interdisciplinary perspective into her teaching practice. She is currently a researcher and translator for a specialized publishing house focused on the history of the book and book arts. In addition to her academic work, she is a dedicated bookbinder with a keen interest in the preservation of printed heritage.

Schedule: Wednesdays, 23 June - 9 September 2026

Time: 11:30-12:30 (US Pacific), 2:30-3:30 PM (US Eastern), 8:30-9:30 PM (Central European)

Format: 12 online sessions
